Student Update: Joseph Okeiga, BSPH ‘16
This past summer Joseph Okeiga, BSPH ‘16, interned in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with the Multidisciplinary International Research program (MIRT) hosted by the Harvard School of Public Health. This highly competitive program requires an application and interview for acceptance. This program is designed to encourage underrepresented students to pursue careers in biomedical and behavioral science research. He studied the association of poor sleep quality and suicidal ideation in Ethiopian Adults. His specific role was to analyze the data collected from the research sites in Ethiopia. During his internship, he also had the opportunity to travel to various parts of Ethiopia in order to learn the culture and history. Overall Joseph said, “My experience with the MIRT program was incredible.”
