Faculty Update: Ms. Camina Davis

Ms. Camina Davis presented at APHA for her work titled Village HeartBEAT: People, partnership, pride, and progress. Village HeartBEAT works with Black and Hispanic/Latino churches in the Charlotte area to reduce cardiovascular disease among the Black and Hispanic/Latino community. Each church formed a ten person team that competed in a weight-loss challenge against other churches. Overall, they saw a weight loss of 535 pounds among the 144 participants. She was also awarded the Mecklenburg County’s Community Health Leadership award for her outstanding service to public health. Click here to read more about her work.
